It was a bright sunshiny day when members of the Mended Hearts Chapter 189 assembled at the SC State Museum for the American Heart Walk. Dressed in Providence green they set forth on the 2.8 mile route and about an hour later they had completed their task with enthusiasm and spirit. Members of our Mended Hearts Chapter that were unable to make the walk came out and supported us and enjoyed the festivities.
It all started two monthe ago when President Tom Woods and Chairman Andy McMahon met with the American Heart Association staff for the Amenican Heart Walk. Committee members were selected and the work began. What followed was an extensive letter writing and telephone campaign. Our team exceeded its goal of $3,000.00 by almost 28%, raising $3,825.00 and topping all of the 34 teams that represented Providence Hospital.
Kudos to committee members Carol and Doug Tygrett, Dora and Jim McGrew, Wanda and Steve Ford, Bill Malouche, Ruby and Andrew Milling, Ema Dell and Andy McMahon. Thanks to the entire Mended Hearts Chapter 189 for their splendid support.
It was a great campaign.
